Meet at Didcot Parkway station for a 11.00am start. If you are coming from Reading, take the 10.39am train which will arrive at Didcot Parkway station for 10.53am. If the train is late, the start of the walk will be too. Parking is available at Didcot Parkway station but charges are applicable.

This walk will start with us heading out from the station and going north past Ladygrove Lakes. After leaving the sights of Didcot behind us we make our way out into the beautiful Oxfordshire countryside. We will be able to spot the start of the snowdrops starting to flower in the hedgerows. Stopping at a suitable location to enjoy the views and the contents of our lunchboxes!

With Didcot Power Station looming over us in the not too far distance we head towards the Wittenham Clumps. Brushing past the clumps we will walk to Long Wittenham where we will stop for a drink in The Plough pub.

Once suitably refreshed we will start our walk back to Didcot. Walking close to the Power Station we can see how big these monster chimneys really are! Heading back into Didcot we join the urban sprawl of housing estates that have popped up over the last 10-15 years.

The footpaths may be a bit muddy so please wear suitable footwear.

Note: This is a joint walk with the Oxon 20’s & 30’s group.

Update:Β  Due to the weather conditions, please wear sensible footwear and warm clothing.
