A fairly flat circular walk from Taplow, taking in Dorney, the Thames, and the Jubilee River.

Walk details

The walk heads southwest from Taplow, crossing the Jubilee River to join the Thames Path, which we will follow opposite Bray and Monkey Island, before passing around the end of Dorney Lake (the rowing lake built for the 2012 Olympics – access is sadly more restricted than it was, but we’ll still get a peek). We then pass by the manor house at Dorney Court, hopefully stopping in the café there for a hot drink, cake or whatever takes your fancy. (This will be a short after-lunch refreshment stop, so please still bring a packed lunch as usual.)

From Dorney, we make our way north to the Jubilee River, which we follow back to our start point in Taplow.

The walk is relatively flat and easy, but please note that some of the paths may be quite muddy so sturdy footwear is still recommended!

From Reading, please take the 10:27 train from Reading, arriving in Taplow at 10:43. This train should arrive on platform 4, adjacent to the meeting point at the north entrance. If coming from the opposite direction (Slough etc.) there is a train arriving at 10:50. Return trains in both directions run every half hour.
