Join us for a relaxed walk along the coast, exploring the seaside town of Christchurch and Hengistbury Head Nature Reserve.

Advance booking is not required, but if you plan on attending this walk, please indicate this on Meetup if you can, so others can see that there will be plenty of people going.

Pace: gentle. Ascent: 49m.

Walk details

We’ll leave the station at 11am, and wander through Christchurch, checking out the castle and the priory on our way south to the beach, where we can – weather permitting – admire the views across the English Channel. We’ll then head straight up onto the viewpoint for our lunch stop, so please bring lunch and a drink with you!

After lunch we’ll walk down to explore the rest of the nature reserve and head to the end of the Mudeford Sandbank. We’ll then switch to admiring the harbour and the salt marshes on our way back, stopping briefly at the visitor centre, where there will be an opportunity to look around and buy a drink, or an ice cream 🍦😉.

We estimate we’ll make it back to Christchurch about 4.30pm. The walk leaders intend to get fish and chips after the walk, so feel free to join them (or we can all go for a drink depending on what the group wants!)
