Meet at Aldermaston station for a 10.35am start. If you are coming from Reading, take the 10.12am arriving at Aldermaston at 10.25am. If you are coming from Newbury, take the 10.16am arriving at Aldermaston at 10.31am If the train is late, the start of the walk will be too. Parking is available at the station (charges will apply).
This walk will take us away from the station along the quiet footpaths towards Aldermaston village along Fisherman Lane. We will pass through the village and up towards Wasing Park before heading down past the small airfield in Brimpton (weather permitting we may see a small plane or 2 taking off or landing).
We continue on along the public footpaths towards Woolhampton passing over the Kennet and Avon canal and continuing on up towards Upper Woolhampton. Following the footpaths north of the A4 we will continue towards Beenham before coming back down to finish at Aldermaston Station.
After reaching the finish will can continue on with a short walk to The Butt Inn put for a well-earned refreshing drink!
This is an easy walk which is relatively flat. The footpaths may be a bit muddy so please wear suitable footwear. Please bring a packed lunch and something to drink as we will find a perfect spot along the way to stop and refuel with your lunch!
