A lovely amble through the South Oxfordshire countryside. This new route for the walk leader traverses the footpaths that lead us through the two Wittenhams’ (Long and Little) via the Thames Path and a climb up Wittenham Clumbs; one of the groups favourite spots. The walk leader aims to be on the 9:53 train from Reading. If the service is delayed, so will the start of the walk. If driving, please park considerately in surrounding streets and wait at the station for the anticipated 10:23 service to arrive.

If you have already tried one of our shorter 5 or 6 mile hikes in 2017 this is perfect if you wish to test your abilities on a slightly longer distance. Aside from one medium climb this is an easy walk over flat and mostly soft terrain.

Bring picnic lunch, something to drink and money for possible drink stop towards end of walk.

UPDATE: The direct train still leaves Reading at 9:53, but is now scheduled to arrive at Appleford at 10:34.  This means the walk will now start at 10:40.   For anyone coming from Reading, National Rail also shows a service with a slightly faster journey time that leaves Reading at 9:59 and involves changing trains at Didcot Parkway.
