Walk details

Kicking off at Crowthorne Station, we will head straight to California!

No beaches or Americans in sight here, just a beautiful 8000 year old bog, a site of special scientific interest or SSSI for short, the bog features rare bright orange coloured water.

If that wasn’t exciting enough, get ready to check out the café overlooking the lake, where depending on pace we may have lunch. Then we’ll pop into a scrap yard, where perhaps you’ll find a rare car to restore and make you rich (or some rusty old Fiestas).

After a quick jaunt in the countryside and making friends with some sheep, cows and horses, we’ll arrive at our pub stop: the excellent Queens Oak for a selection of drinks.

Refreshed, we’ll head down the Blackwater Valley Path to the Moor Green Lakes Reserve to observe some rare birds (twitchers welcome)!

After a brief foray into the pretty Ambarrow Hill, we’ll make our tracks to the station and the walk will be sadly over.
