Meet at Basingstoke station for a 10.45am start. If you are coming from Reading, take the 10.19am departure which arrives at Basingstoke at 10:40am. If the train is late, the start of the walk will be too. Parking is available at the station (charges will apply).

This walk is out of our usual Berkshire area but it’s a good chance to explore a neighbouring county. The walk will head east from the station, following the railway line before coming into Old Basing.

The walk will then head out into the countryside when we will head towards Sherfield on Loddon. We will be welcomed with views of the Hampshire countryside. The walk will follow part of the river Loddon.

We will stop for lunch along the way before we stop for a well-deserved drink at the Bolton Arms pub in Old Basing. After being refreshed here we will start heading back to the station. We will be presented with more beautiful views of the Hampshire countryside.

This is an easy walk which is relatively flat. The footpaths may be a bit muddy so please wear suitable footwear. Please bring a packed lunch and something to drink.
