Meet at Bedwyn station upon arrival on the 9:37 service from Reading. If the train is delayed then the start of the walk will also be delayed. Parking is also available at the station where charges may apply.

The walk will start by following the Kennet and Avon Canal west towards Little Bedwyn. We will then follow the Long Walk through Stype Wood and head into Shalbourne. Here we will visit the grave of agricultural pioneer Jethro Tull (not to be confused with the band of the same name!) in St Michael’s Church. After passing a couple of farms, we will briefly head into Bedwyn Brail woodland before returning to Great Bedwyn, where we will pass our second church of the day, the Church of St Mary the Virgin just before the finish. It is here that Sir John Seymour, father of Henry VIII’s third wife Jane Seymour is buried.

Please bring a packed lunch as well as plenty to drink. Pub stop at the end of the walk in The Three Tuns.
