Booking Required christmas dinner meal social

Join us for our annual Christmas party! This year we’ll be having a proper fiesta at Revolución de Cuba (in Reading town centre), including some more interesting Xmas fare such as jerk turkey and mince pie empanadas. Intrigued? Check out the menu below!

We’ll be enjoying a 3-course dinner on the night (2-course also available). We will also have our annual Berkshire Walkers awards ceremony, as well as a Secret Santa! We’re hoping for the latter to include some name-drawing, so there will be a chance to give and received some more personalised presents!

If you would like to join, please fill in this form with your details and menu choices. The dinner will cost £33pp including service charge (£29pp for the 2-course). There is an option to add in some Prosecco to start the night for £5.50. We’re also encouraging donations for our BW awards prize pot, so we can reward our walk leaders for their hard work in the past year. Details on how to pay are also included in the form.

Booking will be open until Saturday 12th November. Anyone is welcome, as we know in the past our Christmas dinner has been popular with other local walking groups.

Finally, Christmas jumpers are optional but encouraged!

Booking onto a walk

Most walks do not require advance booking, and you can just turn up on the day. We encourage those comfortable with Meetup to indicate there that you plan to come though, so that others can see there will be plenty of people there – this really helps to encourage new members to come along.
For the few which still have limited numbers, this is handled via Meetup. Follow the link to a walk’s Meetup page (or press 🎟 Register / 🎟 Tickets / 🎟), and mark yourself as attending.

Pace Guide

Gentle: led at a gentle pace with regular short breaks for water or rest. Should be suitable for anyone capable of the distance. (Expect 2–2.5 mph.)
Medium: led at an intermediate pace with fewer breaks but still suitable for most walkers. (Expect 2.5–3 mph.)
Fast: led at a quick pace with minimal breaks. May be a challenge for those with less fitness. (Expect 3 mph+.)

Speeds quoted are only a rough guide, including time spent on short water/rest stops and negotiating stiles/gates/roads etc. but not that spent on longer lunch or pub stops.
