An 11-mile fairly hilly circular walk in the Chilterns countryside, featuring charming woodland, rolling hills, and the picturesque village of Turville, most famous for its appearance in “Killing Eve” as Bletcham as well as “The Vicar of Dibley” (as Dibley).
This is a joint walk with Chiltern Young Walkers. Advance booking is not required, but if you plan on attending this walk, please indicate this on Meetup if you can, so others can see that there will be plenty of people going.

Walk details
Starting from the free car park in Lane End, just north of Marlow, we’ll head through a variety of beautiful woodlands, including Fining Wood, Mousells Wood, Hills Wood, and Hatchett Wood (to name just a few). Between these woods, we’ll traverse rolling hills that offer magnificent views of the surrounding countryside.
After skirting around Skirmett, we’ll ascend a short hill into Great Wood passing Binfield Bottom (where we will stop for lunch). We’ll briefly join Shakespeare’s Way for a few hundred metres before turning onto The Chiltern Way, which will lead us all the way into Turville. This quaint Buckinghamshire village has been a filming location for a wide variety of TV shows and films, including “The Vicar of Dibley” (Dibley) and, more recently, “Killing Eve” (Bletcham), both featuring Old Beams Cottage.
With views of the Cobstone Windmill (featured prominently in “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang”) in the background, we’ll continue on to Fingest and its magnificent Norman church. Weather and space permitting, we may stop for a quick drink in the garden of the Chequers pub. The final two miles back to Lane End take us through more fields, tracks, and woodlands, rounding off our walk.
Being in the Chiltern Hills this walk does feature several hills, and although hopefully sun will hopefully have dried out all the recent rain, as is traditional on my walks it “may be muddy” so please come prepared.

By public transport
Although it may be possible to reach Lane End by bus from High Wycombe, this is unlikely to be practical for most people in our area (although it is possible to get a bus from Reading to High Wycombe). Feel free to use either our Facebook group (members only) or the comments section on the Meetup event page to arrange lifts – there are often members who are happy to help!
By car
Free parking and toilet facilities are available in the Finings Road car park.
