Starting at Brook this is a varied walk through ancient pasture woodland and Open Forest to Upper Canterton. Here visit the Rufus Stone to explore the mystery surrounding the death of King William I. Then continue along long quiet country lanes to the unspoilt village of Minstead where the world-renowned detective and mystery writer Sir Arthur Conon Doyle is buried in the grounds of All Saints Church. The village contains a nice pub (The Loyal Servant) and tea shop where we may take our libations before returning North towards Brook and exploring further woodland enclosures where we will probably come across wild horses and deer in hiding.

Walk starts from the Bramshaw Golf Course Car Park just outside Brook on the Roger Penny Way SO43 7HG (SU 26533 14229). Aim to start walk at 10:00am.

The forest tracks may be muddy in October so waterproof footwear and gaiters are advisable.
