Who wants to come on a Canal Boat for the afternoon?

Who wants to travel at a leisurely speed along a small part of the 87 mile long Kennet and Avon Canal which connects London to the Bristol Channel?

I have booked 15 seats on ‘The Rose of Hungerford’ for Saturday 30th July 2022 – the boat trip starts at 2.30pm (please be at the boat for 2.00pm) and last for approximately 2.5 hours. The ticket cost is £10.00 each. Contact Jason (via the email above) to book a space.

The meeting point for this trip is ‘Canal Walk, just off Hungerford High Street (RG17 0EQ)’. This is a 5 minute walk from the Train Station.

The boat departs from Hungerford and will go through 2 locks (Dun Mill and Wire Locks) returning to Hungerford at approximately 5.00pm.

Booking onto a walk

Most walks do not require advance booking, and you can just turn up on the day. We encourage those comfortable with Meetup to indicate there that you plan to come though, so that others can see there will be plenty of people there – this really helps to encourage new members to come along.

Pace Guide

Gentle: led at a gentle pace with regular short breaks for water or rest. Should be suitable for anyone capable of the distance. (Expect 2–2.5 mph.)
Medium: led at an intermediate pace with fewer breaks but still suitable for most walkers. (Expect 2.5–3 mph.)
Fast: led at a quick pace with minimal breaks. May be a challenge for those with less fitness. (Expect 3 mph+.)

Speeds quoted are only a rough guide, including time spent on short water/rest stops and negotiating stiles/gates/roads etc. but not that spent on longer lunch or pub stops.
