Meet in the car park at Charlbury station for an 11.15 start. The 10.19 train from Reading will arrive there for 11.02. The walk leader will be on this train.

Starting almost in the countryside already, we will head away from Charlbury to begin with, before following a path with great views of the Evenlode Valley. We will follow this past the hamlet of Shorthampton and into nearby Chilson.

Turning to the south, we will head across fields into Wychwood Forest, where our lunch stop will be. We will also pass next to Cornbury Park, home of Wilderness Festival. After exiting the forest, we’ll climb a hill and head into Finstock, dropping in at the Plough inn for some refreshments.

Afterwards, we will go back out of Finstock around the other side of Cornbury Park, before crossing the River Evenlode and the railway, and following the road into the middle of Charlbury. From here it is 5 minutes walk back to the station where trains leave hourly at 12 minutes past the hour. Alternatively there is the option of another pub stop!

Please bring a packed lunch and water. Additionally, it is likely that there will be a few short muddy parts, so good footwear is suggested.
