Meet at Stonehouse station at 10.50am, shortly after the arrival of the 10.14am train from Swindon (connecting train leaves Reading at 9.28am). The walk leader intends to travel on this train, if it is delayed the start of the walk will be as well.

After the success of our first visit to Gloucestershire in April, this walk takes us further into the Cotswolds. Leaving Stonehouse, we pick up the Cotswold Way National Trail up some quite steep climbs, through Standish Wood to enjoy our lunch enjoying the fine views from Haresfield Beacon across the Severn Estuary to the Forest of Dean and Wales. From there, we will stop for a drink at the Edgemoor Inn, before leaving the Cotswold Way and heading south towards the market town of Stroud, where there will be a choice of pubs for those who wish before catching the train back to Reading from Stroud station.

Stonehouse (and Stroud) lie outside the Network Railcard zone. To reduce the costs, we will aim to take advantage of the Groupsave discount. If you intend to take the train from Reading, please meet outside the Three Guineas at 9.10am, where we will split into groups of 3-9 to buy our tickets. As this is a linear walk, these will be returns to Stonehouse.

NOTE: This is a linear walk
