The walk will start at 10:35 from Hungerford railway station (south side). This is shortly after the arrival of the 09:48 from Reading (09:52 from Reading West!) which arrives in Hungerford at 10:30. If the train is delayed, the start of the walk will be too. Parking is also available at the station, where charges apply.
We will head west from Hungerford along the Kennet & Avon canal before crossing the border into Wiltshire. From here we’ll leave the towpath and make our way to Ramsbury where we’ll stop to have our pack lunch and hopefully a quick drink at the pub! Once refreshed, we’ll make our way back alongside the River Kennet passing an old Roman Villa and the lovely grounds of Littlecote Hotel. Soon we’ll be in Chilton Foliat where there is another option of a pub stop (pattern occurring here!) From here it is a short way back to Hungerford train station if you
would like to head home OR perhaps you’d like to join the walk leader for the third pub stop of the day…
Please bring a pack lunch and any snacks you’ll want to eat along the way – as well as plenty of water.
