If you answered yes to both of the above questions, you are invited to join me for my resurrected “Easter in the Peaks” trip which will take place over Easter weekend – 6th–10th April 2023.

We will be based in the rather lovely village of Hartington in the White Peak area of the Peak District. Lying on the River Dove and surrounded by some great hills, this is the perfect place to be for four days of walking and pubbing. The village itself has two excellent pubs, along with a tearoom & café. We will not go hungry or thirsty on this trip!

I am booked in to the rather splendid YHA Hartington Hall (I have stayed there 3 times over the past few years). Log fires, oak panelling & plenty of original features make this 17th century Manor House perfect for a long weekend of walking. Please make sure you can get here easily as all walks led by Daisy will start here.

Note, you will not be able to park in the hostel car park unless you are staying there, so please make allowances for this.

Trip Itinerary

(Now updated with alternative walks for Friday, Saturday and Sunday.)

Thursday 6th:
- Evening welcome drinks in the hostel
Friday 7th:
- Daisy will be leading a 13.5-mile challenging walk, starting at 10am from the Hostel. Max 19 people + walk leader. 600m ascent, fast pace.
- Jack will be leading a 5.5-mile easy/moderate walk, starting at 11am from the car park off Carr Lane, Wetton. 358m ascent, medium pace.
Saturday 8th:
- Daisy will be leading a 15-mile challenging walk, starting at 10am from the Hostel. Max 19 people + walk leader. 732m ascent, fast pace.
- Zak will be leading an 11-mile moderate walk, starting at 10am from the Hostel. 584m ascent, medium pace.
Sunday 9th:
- Mike will be leading a 10-mile challenging walk, starting at 10am from the Hostel. Max 19 people + walk leader. 500m ascent, fast pace.
- Jack will be leading a 6-mile easy walk, stating at 10am from the Hostel. 120m ascent, medium pace.
Monday 10th:
- Daisy will be leading an 8-mile challenging walk, starting at 10am from the Hostel car park. Max 24 people + walk leader. 300m ascent, fast pace.

In the evenings you are free to do what you like. No doubt there will be a good contingent to socialise with in the Hostel!

Please note the walks led by Daisy/Mike will be of a challenging nature and we won’t be hanging around on the pace. Although the pub stops may be lengthy…

Booking onto a walk

Most walks do not require advance booking, and you can just turn up on the day. We encourage those comfortable with Meetup to indicate there that you plan to come though, so that others can see there will be plenty of people there – this really helps to encourage new members to come along.
For the few which still have limited numbers, this is handled via Meetup. Follow the link to a walk’s Meetup page (or press 🎟 Register / 🎟 Tickets / 🎟), and mark yourself as attending.
Social and other events may have their own booking system – please see the event description.

Pace Guide

Gentle: led at a gentle pace with regular short breaks for water or rest. Should be suitable for anyone capable of the distance. (Expect 2–2.5 mph.)
Medium: led at an intermediate pace with fewer breaks but still suitable for most walkers. (Expect 2.5–3 mph.)
Fast: led at a quick pace with minimal breaks. May be a challenge for those with less fitness. (Expect 3 mph+.)

Speeds quoted are only a rough guide, including time spent on short water/rest stops and negotiating stiles/gates/roads etc. but not that spent on longer lunch or pub stops.
