UPDATE: In light of recent Covid rates, I am significantly scaling down the festive fancy dress pub crawl – to 2 pubs & 1 brewery. They all have outdoor areas, if you’d feel more comfortable outside. I would encourage everyone coming along to take a lateral flow test in the morning – so we’re being as sensible as possible.

Back for its third instalment and keen to make up for its absence last year on the BW calendar, the FESTIVE FANCY DRESS PUB CRAWL IS BACK!!

Come and help us continue the fun of Christmas Month with a fancy-dress pub crawl around Wokingham.

We will aim to meet from 3:15pm at The Ship Inn (15 min walk from Wokingham station) – from here, we will move on and make our way through the many excellent public houses of Wokingham – full list to be announced nearer the time!

Our fancy-dress theme will be the LETTER T!

So, whether you feel like being a Teletubby, Tangerine or even decorating yourself up as a Christmas Tree, this is certainly a social not to be missed. We will be getting the 14:42 departure from Reading (arriving 14:55), so if this train is delayed so will the start of the social.
If you cannot join us for the start, please call the organiser for an up-to-date location! Please CALL as it will be loud, and you may be waiting a while for a reply if you message!!

Booking onto a walk

Most walks do not require advance booking, and you can just turn up on the day. We encourage those comfortable with Meetup to indicate there that you plan to come though, so that others can see there will be plenty of people there – this really helps to encourage new members to come along.
For the few which still have limited numbers, this is handled via Meetup. Follow the link to a walk’s Meetup page (or press 🎟 Register / 🎟 Tickets / 🎟), and mark yourself as attending.

Pace Guide

Gentle: led at a gentle pace with regular short breaks for water or rest. Should be suitable for anyone capable of the distance. (Expect 2–2.5 mph.)
Medium: led at an intermediate pace with fewer breaks but still suitable for most walkers. (Expect 2.5–3 mph.)
Fast: led at a quick pace with minimal breaks. May be a challenge for those with less fitness. (Expect 3 mph+.)

Speeds quoted are only a rough guide, including time spent on short water/rest stops and negotiating stiles/gates/roads etc. but not that spent on longer lunch or pub stops.
