A shortish walk through the undulating woodland of Swinley Forest, to round off our programme for 2021.

Walk details

From our starting point at Martins Heron station on the eastern edge of Bracknell, this walk proceeds quickly into the extensive woodland of Swinley Forest, picking up parts of the Three Castles Path, and winding our way towards the remains of the Iron Age hill fort at Caesar’s Camp. From there we make our slightly hillier return journey, looping back through the forest via Pudding Hill.

This is on the “easy” side of moderate, with paths being mostly well-made, though it is possible some might be muddy at this time of year, and there are a few small hills on the route.

Travel details

From Reading, please take the 10:42 train, arriving at 11:05, and cross the footbridge to the meeting point. This train also calls at intermediate stations including Wokingham and Bracknell. Return trains leave every half hour.

There is a small car park at Martins Heron station, where charges probably apply. This is on the opposite side of the track from the meeting point – please cross the footbridge.
