While incidents requiring first aid are thankfully rare on our walks, it is nevertheless good to have volunteers on hand with first aid training in the unlikely event that this is required. Recognising this, the Ramblers organise a number of training sessions across the country in conjunction with St John Ambulance. The two identical sessions on the 7th September (morning and afternoon) are likely to be most accessible to BW members, though you can search the full range of sessions on the Ramblers website.

These half-day courses are free for Ramblers members to attend (thanks to funding from the People’s Postcode Lottery) and cover basic first aid, tailored toward the scenarios most likely to occur on a group walk. No prior experience is necessary, and these sessions are suitable for anyone who would like the confidence to volunteer when first aid is required but perhaps particularly those leading walks and trips away etc.

Sign up for free via the ticket link above (you’ll need your Ramblers membership number). If you then find you can’t go, please cancel so that someone else can take your place since numbers are limited.
