It’s a pretty walk along the canal with its array of narrowboats and wildlife.

Booking is required for this walk, via the form here.

Pace: gentle.

Walk details

Let’s meet outside Platform 1 at Farnborough North train station (so for those who are catching the train from the direction of Reading then do not cross the railway tracks at the gate and those of you coming from elsewhere please join us on the other side.)

We shall begin the walk by walking towards the Basingstoke Canal at Frimley. We continue on this path until we reach the outskirts of Mychett Woods, which we will walk through before re-joining the Basingstoke Canal. We will also across into Frimley Lodge Park before returning back to the station.

Since it’s a Friday night, why not join me for a drink at the Prince of Wales pub which is only a short distance away. For you CAMRA enthusiasts this pub pride itself on real ales and craft beers. Don’t worry, other drinks are served too!

Travel details

By public transport

If catching the train from Reading, please take the 17.50 departure which arrives at Farnborough North at 18.18.

By car

There is a tiny car park at the station, but my advice would be to park down a side street and walk to the station. There is usually parking available down Highgate Lane and Ship Lane, however the latter road is closed just past Henry Tyndale school.

Notes

  • If you or someone else from your household has COVID-19 symptoms, please do not attend.
  • Please bring a drink and a snack.
  • It might be muddy – please wear suitable footwear.
  • Please feel free to contact the leader with queries about the walk, or if you are delayed on the day.
