Irina will be leading an easy 8.5 mile walk starting at Furze Platt station, through Maidenhead towards Taplow where we will join the Thames Path near Boulters Lock.

Along the way we will enjoy beautiful riverside views such as the one across the river towards the wooded escarpment of Cliveden estate, setting of the Profumo affair (for those interested, the Trial of Christine Keeler is still on BBC iPlayer).

We will stop for lunch near Cookham and proceed on towards Bourne End and then our final destination, Marlow, where – with a bit of luck – there may be an ice-cream van waiting for us!

The 10:06 train from Reading arrives at Furze Platt at 10:33. NB: change required at Maidenhead. There are trains back to Reading from Marlow at 5 minutes to the hour in the afternoon. Change at Maidenhead. Free on street parking should be available near the station for those driving.

Please bring a packed lunch and plenty to drink.
