Eaten too many Easter Eggs? Want to get in a couple of hills before the Lake District trip in May? Then this walk, rescheduled from the beginning of March is just for you!!

Meet outside Gomshall station in time for a 10:05am start.  If coming from Reading, take the 9:04 departure (9:12am Wokingham), which arrives at Gomshall at 10:03.  The walk leader will be on this train, so if the train is delayed, the start of the walk will be too.

If you decide to drive, then I would recommend parking at Guildford, and joining the train there (train departs Guildford at 9.48). Alternatively, parking is available at Dorking (Main) station. You can then walk 5 minutes to Dorking Deepdene station, and catch the 9:45 departure, which will arrive at Gomshall at 9:53.

This is a hilly walk, with great views on a clear day. We will start by following tracks and lanes until we pick up the Greensand Way.  We will then follow the Greensand Way over Holmbury Hill, which is the site of an Iron Age hillfort, and Leith Hill, the 2nd highest point in South-East England. We then continue along the Greensand Way all the way into Dorking.  Possible pub stop en route, and chance to buy snacks from the tea kiosk in Leith Hill Tower.

There will also be a pub stop back in Dorking at the Kings Arms, where food is available. For anyone who doesn’t want to stay in the pub, I can give directions to get to the train station.

NOTE: This is a linear walk.  Buy a return to Dorking Deepdene. Trains back to Reading every 30 minutes.
