Come and join us on this circular route through the beautiful countryside to the east of Goring.
Meet at Goring and Streatley train station for an 11.25am start. The 11.09 departure from Reading, arrives in Goring at 11.22 in time for the start of this walk. The walk leader intends to travel on this train so if it is delayed, then the start of the walk will be too. Parking is also available at the station (charges apply).
From the station we will walk east along the Chiltern way, through the Great Chalk Wood towards Cray’s Pond. We will then head south on footpaths towards Whitchurch where we will then join the Thames Path for the return to Goring.
The first part of this walk is almost all uphill but we will walk at a leisurely pace for those recovering from the train crawl social so don’t let this put you off!
Please bring a packed lunch, plenty to drink and some money for a possible pub stop either in Cray’s pond or at the end of the walk.
Please note that the return trains to Reading are only every hour so please allow for this if you have time constraints on the day.
UPDATE: There is a running event taking place in Goring on Sunday. The walk route will be different from that described above, however the distance will be about the same. The final route will be decided on the day, once the walk leader sees how busy the planned route is.
Please also note that Goring may be busier than normal, and so parking at the station and in the village may be more difficult.
