Meet at Goring & Streatley station in time for a 10.15am start. If travelling by train from Reading, take the 9.55am service from platform 12, which is scheduled to arrive at 10.08am.

After a short, sharp climb out of Streatley, we cross a golf course to reach the Ridgeway, the UK’s oldest path. From there onwards, the walk is relatively flat. The Ridgeway climbs gently up to Lowbury Hill, where a Roman temple once stood. We will then follow the Fair Mile down to Moulsford, where we will pick up the Thames Path back into Goring.

The walk is marked “challenging” due to its length, but apart from the first short ascent of around 70m, the terrain is not too difficult. Please bring a packed lunch and plenty to drink. Trains run from Goring back to Reading every 30 minutes, and there will be the option of a pub stop while we are waiting.
