Meet outside the main entrance of Guildford station in time for a 11:10am start. This is shortly after the arrival of the 10:34am train from Reading, which arrives in Guildford at 11:08am.  If the train is delayed, the start of the walk will be too. Parking also available at station, where charges apply.

This is almost a repeat of the walk I lead in May last year. As we were rewarded with such a good display of bluebells at the edge of the Chantries, I have decided to put on the walk again, but this time we will walk through the Chantries.

This varied walk starts out along the Wey Navigation before joining the North Down’s way. We walk through the Chantries where we should hopefully see bluebells. After a couple of steady inclines, we will reach the top of St Martha’s Hill, where we will be rewarded with fine views on a clear day. After lunch, we leave the North Downs Way, and head back to Guildford via heathland and the Wey Navigation.

Pub stop at The Britannia at the end of walk which is the venue of today’s social. For anyone not wanting to stay at the pub, the train station is a 5 minute walk away.

UPDATE: This walk will now begin at 11:10am, as the 10:34am train from Reading co-ordinates better with local connecting services.
