Irina will be leading this walk of two halves, the first half a moderately challenging hike up the forest paths into the Chiltern Hills and the latter a gentle stroll back along the Chiltern Way which we will pick up at Skirmett.

We will meet at the Hambleden Mill End car park (RG9 6TL). For those driving, please note that charges apply both here and at the car park in Hambleden village. It may be possible to park on Pheasant’s Hill Frieth which is the road behind the church but this will likely be busy on a Sunday.

For those arriving from the direction of Reading, the no. 800 bus departs Friar Street at 10:15 and arrives at Hambleden Mill End at 11:00, from there it’s a short walk to the start point above.

We should be rewarded with glorious views down into the valleys, through peaceful woodland, a glimpse of the windmill at Turville (thankfully without the steep ascent to it this time as we’re still fresh out of winter lockdown…) and lots of playful lambs frolicking in the fields!

Walking boots are recommended, as well as the usual: plenty of water, packed lunch and a warm layer for the second part of the walk when it may feel chilly.

Buses back to Reading run at approximately quarter past the hour during the afternoon.

Book a place on this walk by completing the Google Form. We will only use the contact information you provide to get in touch about the walk, or to share if requested with NHS Test and Trace.
