Join us for a day out watching the Henley Sheepdog Trial, with an optional short walk beforehand and afterwards.  Depending on demand, we could also go for drinks and/or food in Henley afterwards (or alternatively a pub stop on the way back if people don’t mind a small detour).

Those wishing to join us for the walk should meet at Henley station in time for a 10am start.  At the time of writing, the 0903 service from Reading will get you there in time, changing at Twyford, but please check again nearer the time.  The venue is about an hour’s walk (2.5 miles) down the Thames.

Alternatively, please feel free to meet us at the Henley Showground near Hambleden, RG9 3AS, at any time during the day.  We will be there from around 11am onwards, but gates open at 9am if you are particularly keen.  There is free parking at at the venue, or you can take the no. 800 bus from Reading or Henley (timetable here).

Admission is £3 (concessions £2, children free).  There are typically around 40 dogs running, with the event finishing around 4-5pm, but there are sometimes more, and it has finished as late as 7pm in the past.  We will stay for as long as people are interested.  The official website will be updated with more details nearer the time, but Chris has some information from a few years ago which he can pass on to anyone who is interested.  Each run features an Outrun, Lift, Fetch, Drive, Cross Drive, Shed and Pen.  Other attractions include a spinning and weaving display, sheep hurdle making demonstration and various trade stands.

Please bring a packed lunch or money to buy food there.  When everyone is ready to leave, we will walk back to Henley (or catch the bus if people prefer).
