Meet outside Holmwood Station in time for a 10:30am start. If coming from Reading, take the 9:04 departure (9:12 Wokingham), and change at Dorking Deepdene (arr: 10:11). We will them take the 3 minute walk to Dorking (Main) to catch the 10:22 departure to Holmwood (arr 10:29). If the train is delayed, the start of the walk will be too.

This hilly walk follows a section of the Greensand Way, and takes in 3 of the Surrey Hills. If the weather is clear, we will be rewarded with fine views! After leaving Holmwood Station, we make our way to the top of Leith Hill, the second highest hill in the South East. There is a tower at the top of Leith Hill, with a refreshment kiosk, which will hopefully be open!

We descend to the village of Holmbury St Mary, before making our second ascent through the Hurt Wood to Holmbury Hill, where we will again be rewarded with fine views.   After another descent, we ascend Pitch Hill, where on a clear day, we can see our first hill of the day, Leith Hill.

Continuing along the Greensand Way, we pass the Ewhurst Windmill, and descend gently to Shamley Green, where the walk will end.

We will then catch the bus back to Guildford (bus runs every 20 minutes, with a journey time of 20 minutes). Option of pub stop in Shamley Green or back in Guildford.

Note: If you plan on driving to this walk, I would recommend parking at Guildford station, where charges apply,  and joining the train there (dep: 9:48). Your car will then be waiting for you after we all catch the bus back to Guildford.

NOTE: This is a linear walk.  Buy a return to Holmwood.
