- This walk is limited to 11 walkers + the walk leader.
- Do not turn up for a walk without prior booking, else we will have to turn you away
- Follow all safety advice given by the walk leader
- It is recommended you bring hand sanitizer or gloves in case you need to touch gates/stiles/etc
- If you or someone else from your household has COVID-19 symptoms, please do not attend.
Meet at Hungerford station for a 10.30am start. If you are coming from Reading, take the 09.35am to Newbury, arriving at 09.58am. You will need to change here and catch the 10.12am train which will arrive at Hungerford station for 10.23am.
If the train is late, the start of the walk will be too. Parking is available at Hungerford station but charges are applicable.
This walk will start with us heading out through Hungerford town and off towards Standen Manor, the walk will continue through the open West Berkshire countryside towards and over the Kennet and Avon canal we will head north towards Cake Wood (I doubt we will see or find any cakes there).
We will continue our and go past the very impressive Littlecote House and have the chance to visit the Roman Villa remains in the grounds of the house.
After our visit here we will start heading back towards Hungerford, passing Furze Hill before crossing Freemans Marsh and joining back up with the Kennet and Avon Canal. Once we are back in Hungerford we will go and visit one of the friendly ale houses for a well-earned drink or two!
Please wear suitable footwear and bring some lunch with you and plenty of water.
