Meet at Newbury station for a 10.45am start. If you are coming from Reading, take the 10.12am direct train which will arrive at Newbury station for 10.39am. If the train is late, the start of the walk will be too. Parking is available at Newbury station but charges are applicable.

This walk will start with us heading out through Newbury town and off towards the Kennet and Avon Canal. The walk will take us away from the market town of Newbury, west before we join up with the Lambourn Valley Way walking route.

This walk will cross the under and over the old Lambourn Valley railway line 3 times! No trains today… (Well no trains for the last 60 years).

As we continue on our walk we follow many different of the different Rights of Way in this part of West Berkshire. The walk will take us past the beautiful Kinghams Plantation. Giving us the chance to hopefully some of the local wildlife – maybe a deer or squirrel.

We will walk through the little village of Bagnor getting to see the flowing River Lambourn. Hopefully getting to spot some fish! (Don’t ask me what fish are in the river – they all look like Fish to me!) Hopefully someone can tell us what they are?

We will continue on to Donnigton Castle where we will be presented with beautiful views across Newbury and beyond. This will be a perfect spot to stop, relax and take in the view.

We will join back up with the Lambourn Valley Way and the Kennet and Avon Canal to make our way back to Newbury Station where we started our walk.
Please wear suitable footwear and bring some lunch with you and plenty of water.
