Please join us for an evening of live classical music at the Reading University Great Hall. Performing are the Aldworth Philharmonic Orchestra , a very talented amateur orchestra featuring local players of all ages. An old friend of the organiser somehow manages to play the cello with the orchestra, while working, AND looking after two toddlers and a husband.

The orchestra will play a selection of works on the themes of love and desire (just in case you were going to forget Valentine’s day later in February). The pieces being performed include classics by Debussy, Ravel and Wagner.

We’ll meet in the entrance to the Great Hall, on London Road at 19:15, just before the concert starts.  Tickets are not allocated by seat so we should be able to all sit together. If you’d like to come please do one of the following:

a)      Buy a ticket yourself HERE!

b)      Contact Steve by Monday 21 January. He will then buy you one and give you details of how to pay him back via the BW account.

Reading Great Hall is part of the university but is only a 15 minute-ish walk from the train station, and around the corner from the Museum of Rural Life (which we visited during the NYR weekend).

After the concert there should be time for a drink or two in a town centre pub, perhaps The Lyndhurst. If you opt to miss all the great music and come just for the drinks you’re still welcome. Please call Steve after 9.30, when his phone will be turned on again, to confirm where we are.

ADDITIONAL PRE-CONCERT  MEETUP:

If you’d like to join us for a bite to eat before the concert, the organiser will be at the Back of Beyond pub in central Reading from 5.30 pm.

It has the Wetherspoons’ usual wide range of bar snacks and meals, as well as good drinks options. It’s a 10 minute walk from the train station.

We’ll leave for the concert at around 6.50, to ensure we meet others at the venue in good time and to get seats together.
