Due to Government and Ramblers restrictions, all walks are limited to 5 walkers + the Walk Leader.  Please do not turn up for a walk without prior booking, as we will have to turn you away.

Due to COVID-19, we all need to take extra steps to stay safe. Please follow all safety advice given by the walk leader, including the latest guidelines on physical distancing while out walking.

For your safety, we request that you avoid car sharing and only use public transport if you have no alternative.  It is also recommended that you bring hand sanitizer or gloves in case you need to touch gates/stiles/etc

Easily accessible on foot for those of you living in Reading and Caversham, this walk takes in many different landscapes: the River Thames and surrounding Meadows, the farms and woodland on the edge of the Chilterns, picturesque villages, and the corridor of green parkland through running through Caversham.

The walk will begin at approximately 10am from Christchurch Meadows (exact time and location will be sent to those who sign up). We’ll cross the river here and follow the Thames Path to Sonning, taking a slight detour to visit the small lakes in Thames Valley Park. Re-crossing the river at Sonning, we’ll then start to climb out of the valley over through the fields to the village of Dunsden Green. From here, the route undulates through a mixture of fields and woodland towards Crowsley, before returning via Chalkhouse Green and making our way back to our starting point through Bug’s Bottom and Balmore Park, which form a corridor of green running down the hill through Caversham.

Please bring a packed lunch and plenty of water.
