An early morning walk with a view – what a great way to start the weekend.
Starting out opposite the Pack & Saddle pub (wistful sigh) this figure of eight circular route skirts Caversham Golf Club before heading into the woods for a gentle climb before descending to take in the sites of Mapledurham House and a walk past lots of lovely dairy cows.
Following which another gentle ascent takes us to the top of a hill where we will stop for elevenses with a view over the River Thames, surrounding countryside and Reading in the distance.
You then have the option to descend the hill and continue with the walk or join those who have gone before you and try to run back up the hill before continuing with the walk. Note running in hiking boots is hard!
The walk will then loop around taking in other aspects of the farm and woodland before heading back to the start.
For those of you travelling by Public Transport the X40 bus leaves Reading’s Station Road at 8.15am before arriving at Rokeby drive where you need to disembark at approx. 8.30am. There is then a short walk to the start point opposite Pack and Saddle Pub.
For those of you driving there is some parking on the left directly opposite the pub. Space can be limited.
