This 7-mile walk from Marlow includes fine views across the Chilterns, an unusual pub, and the Thames Path.

Walk details

From Marlow station, we will walk through the town centre and across the historic suspension bridge. There will be a sharp but fairly short climb away from Marlow through Quarry Wood, before we reach Winter Hill and enjoy fine views across the Chilterns.

We’ll have lunch near the River Thames on Cock Marsh (an area which is not only a Site of Special Scientific Interest, but owned by the National Trust) before a pub stop at the unusual Bounty pub, which is only accessible on foot or by boat!

Next, we return to the north bank of the Thames via the combined rail/footbridge at Bourne End. At this point – around 4 miles into the walk – it is possible to drop out at Bourne End station, and either return to Marlow or to other destinations via Maidenhead. The rest of us will follow a very pleasant stretch of Thames Path for the remaining three miles back into Marlow. There are plenty of options for a drink in Marlow town centre before leaving.
