Meet outside Pangbourne station in time for a 10:30am start.  If coming from Reading, take the 10:15am departure which arrives at Pangbourne at 10:23am.

Have you ever wanted to know where you are on a walk? Do you feel you ought to lead a walk, but don’t know how to read a map? Are you worried about the day that GPS gets turned off? This could be the walk for you!

Whilst this is a moderate walk around the fields, woodlands and tracks to the North of Pangbourne and Whitchurch, we will be using the opportunity to study map and compass-based navigation techniques. This will cover things you should know to navigate in and around Berkshire, as well as some things for our more adventurous holidays.

It would be helpful if you could bring with you a map covering Pangbourne and surrounds (out to 6km radius), and a walking compass, similar to the one in the photo.
