Due to Government and Ramblers restrictions, all walks are limited to 5 walkers + the Walk Leader.  Please do not turn up for a walk without prior booking, as we will have to turn you away.

Due to COVID-19, we all need to take extra steps to stay safe. Please follow all safety advice given by the walk leader, including the latest guidelines on physical distancing while out walking.

For your safety, we request that you avoid car sharing and only use public transport if you have no alternative.  It is also recommended that you bring hand sanitizer or gloves in case you need to touch gates/stiles/etc

Apart from the villages of Rotherfield Peppard and Stoke Row, this walk is mostly through quiet woodland – although it’s only a few miles north of Reading, the area feels much more remote!

We’ll walk north out Peppard through a long wooded valley, before climbing through Greyhone Plantation and proceeding towards Stoke Row. Here you’ll have chance to see the remarkable Maharajah’s Well, before we return to the forest, passing through Ipsden Wood before skirting the edge of the Wyfold estate and making our way across Kingswood Common back to Peppard.

If you’re travelling by car, please park considerately in the village. The exact start point will be sent to those signed up, but is also near the terminus for the no. 25 bus.

Please bring a packed lunch and plenty of water.

Although only 7.5 miles, the walk is graded moderate as the area is significantly hillier than many of our walks (total ascent 250m) – please wear appropriate footwear.
