Join us for a day out in Oxford. The planned punting in the morning has been cancelled due to the forecast heavy rain, but we will still go for lunch and a pub crawl in the afternoon. Feel free to come for as much or as little of the day as you like, but please let the organiser know in advance if you are planning to arrive later in the day so we can arrange to meet you.

Meet at 1:20pm at the main entrance to Oxford station. Those travelling from Reading should take the 12:52 train, which is due into Oxford just before this.

For lunch, we will probably head to The Rickety Press (OX2 6DE) at around 1-1.30pm, and either eat there or somewhere nearby depending on space and the preferences of the group. If you would like to meet us there, or later in the day, please contact the organiser, preferably in advance, so that we can update you on our progress. We will visit a few more pubs in the afternoon, and will probably stop somewhere for food in the evening if we are still going by then.

Trains run back to Reading until 22:44, at which point a bus replacement service is available until around midnight!

Booking onto a walk

Most walks do not require advance booking, and you can just turn up on the day. We encourage those comfortable with Meetup to indicate there that you plan to come though, so that others can see there will be plenty of people there – this really helps to encourage new members to come along.
For the few which still have limited numbers, this is handled via Meetup. Follow the link to a walk’s Meetup page (or press 🎟 Register / 🎟 Tickets / 🎟), and mark yourself as attending.

Pace Guide

Gentle: led at a gentle pace with regular short breaks for water or rest. Should be suitable for anyone capable of the distance. (Expect 2–2.5 mph.)
Medium: led at an intermediate pace with fewer breaks but still suitable for most walkers. (Expect 2.5–3 mph.)
Fast: led at a quick pace with minimal breaks. May be a challenge for those with less fitness. (Expect 3 mph+.)

Speeds quoted are only a rough guide, including time spent on short water/rest stops and negotiating stiles/gates/roads etc. but not that spent on longer lunch or pub stops.
