Do you fancy yourself as a bit of a mastermind? Do you answer with ease those low-point questions on “Pointless” which leave all the contestants flummoxed? Then please join at The Horn in Reading for their weekly pub quiz.

A picture round will be followed by various themed rounds of brain teasers, plus a challenging connections round, and more! The quiz is devised and compered by a friend of the organiser, who is a professional question and quiz writer (his TV credits include “Only Connect”).

It’s a snappy, fun quiz which starts at 7.30pm and usually finishes by 9.15 (this being a “school night”). The organiser will turn up early to reserve a table or two for the group. Entry is £1 per person.

The Horn is a 10 minute walk from Reading train station and serves a few different ales, wines and other tipples. The organiser doesn’t intend to eat here (just coming for the quiz!) but reasonably priced pub grub is available if any attendees would like to.

Booking onto a walk

Most walks do not require advance booking, and you can just turn up on the day. We encourage those comfortable with Meetup to indicate there that you plan to come though, so that others can see there will be plenty of people there – this really helps to encourage new members to come along.

Pace Guide

Gentle: led at a gentle pace with regular short breaks for water or rest. Should be suitable for anyone capable of the distance. (Expect 2–2.5 mph.)
Medium: led at an intermediate pace with fewer breaks but still suitable for most walkers. (Expect 2.5–3 mph.)
Fast: led at a quick pace with minimal breaks. May be a challenge for those with less fitness. (Expect 3 mph+.)

Speeds quoted are only a rough guide, including time spent on short water/rest stops and negotiating stiles/gates/roads etc. but not that spent on longer lunch or pub stops.
