Progress theatre are returning to Reading Abbey Ruins with their open air theatre productions after a break of 10 years.
Join us at this historic site to see a slightly different adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing.

Enjoy an open-air production.of this great Shakespearean comedy – although with a touch of darkness.
Much Ado About Nothing follows the return of soldiers from war. Packed with intrigue, double-crossing and plenty of laughter, Much Ado About Nothing is the perfect introduction to Shakespeare. Following the turbulent romances between Hero and Claudio and Beatrice and Benedict, this exploration of what loyalty, chivalry, and true love really mean empowers us to challenge our perceptions of relationships.
Our production moves the story from Italy to an English house at the conclusion of World War Two. It will be using the story of the lovers to explore the nature of the relationship between men and women as well as exploring themes of jealousy and class.

The theatre is on from 11-21st July, and the organiser intends to try and get tickets for Thursday 12th July 2018 when they go on sale. If this date is unavailable, an alternative date may need to be selected.
Tickets are £22 each. Doors open at 18.45 and the performance starts at 19.45.
If you are interested in coming along please contact the organiser by lunchtime on Friday 1st June so that they can try and get seats together.
Please note as this is an open air production it will be performed irrespective of weather so please dress appropriately.

Booking onto a walk

Most walks do not require advance booking, and you can just turn up on the day. We encourage those comfortable with Meetup to indicate there that you plan to come though, so that others can see there will be plenty of people there – this really helps to encourage new members to come along.

Pace Guide

Gentle: led at a gentle pace with regular short breaks for water or rest. Should be suitable for anyone capable of the distance. (Expect 2–2.5 mph.)
Medium: led at an intermediate pace with fewer breaks but still suitable for most walkers. (Expect 2.5–3 mph.)
Fast: led at a quick pace with minimal breaks. May be a challenge for those with less fitness. (Expect 3 mph+.)

Speeds quoted are only a rough guide, including time spent on short water/rest stops and negotiating stiles/gates/roads etc. but not that spent on longer lunch or pub stops.
