Due to Government and Ramblers restrictions, places are limited on all of our walks. Please do not turn up for a walk without prior booking via the Google form, as we will have to turn you away.

Due to COVID-19, we all need to take extra steps to stay safe. Please follow all safety advice given by the walk leader, including the latest guidelines on physical distancing while out walking.

Please follow the latest government guidelines on the use of public transport and car sharing. It is recommended that you bring hand sanitizer or gloves in case you need to touch gates/stiles/etc. It is also recommended that you bring a face covering, in case of emergencies. If you or someone else from your household has COVID-19 symptoms, please do not attend.

It’s been a little while since our Group as visited the area of Avebury, a return is unquestionably well overdue. On today’s walk we will visit a number of extraordinary Neolithic and Bronze Age Ceremonial sites that formed part of a once sacred landscape including “The Sanctuary”, West Kennet Long Barrow, Silbury Hill and the impressive Stone Circles at Avebury themselves. If that is not enough, the mid section of today’s trek we take us down to the Pewsey Down’s Nature Reserve where the views are far reaching. We should also get a close up view of one of Wiltshire’s many white horses that are carved into the landscape. This is definitely a walk not to be missed!.

We will be walking on mainly soft terrain with minimal tree cover. Gates and stiles are minimal so we should be able to make good progress. However if you have plans in the evening please be aware we will be taking a bit longer due to the site visits during the day added to the fact it is a little bit of a drive for most people so allow for a full day out.

No refreshment stop due to the ongoing pandemic. However, please save a snack and or drink for a second sit down stop later in the walk weather permitting; the walk leader will be packing something alcoholic. Please bring picnic lunch and plenty of liquids to keep you going through what should hopefully memorable day.
