Meet at Mereoak Park and Ride (near M4, Junction 11) for a 11.00am start. Parking is available at the park and ride for £1 for the day. Also there are plenty of buses available from Reading to the park and ride.
The 60x bus departs at 10.22am from Bus Stop SD on Station Road (outside Coral’s) and is due to arrive at Mereoak Park and Ride at 10.39am. If the bus is late, the start of the walk will be too.
After the incredible success of the litter pick in Theale back on October last year we are doing another one in a different location. This walk is slightly different to our usual walks as this will be a walk with a litter pick included.
Littler picking equipment (litter pickers, gloves and bags) will be provided for this walk. We will be collecting discarded litter from along the footpaths of the walk.
As we meander our way through the Berkshire countryside, south of Reading from the Park and Ride we will walk parallel with the A34 before walking back through Spencer’s Wood. There will be the option of a pub stop along the walk too! Get ourselves refreshed before back to pounding the paths to pick up more of the discarded litter.
This is a very easy walk which is flat. The footpaths may be a bit muddy so please wear suitable footwear. Please bring a packed lunch and something to drink.
This walk is part of Keep Britain Tidy’s The Great British Spring Clean, which runs from 22nd March – 23rd April 2019. The aim of this month-long event is to inspire people to get together and collect & dispose of as much litter as possible. After the success of our litter pick last autumn, we decided to get involved! We will be joined on this walk by a photographer from the Daily Mail (the main partner of the Great British Spring Clean). If you want to come on the litter pick but would prefer not to be photographed, please speak to the walk leader before the start of the walk.
