Booking Required Circular easy gentle pace Limited Spaces (20) public transport Walk

This 5 mile circular takes us south of Cholsey towards Moulsford and the Thames Path.

Booking is required for this walk, which is limited to 20 walkers. Please note that to reduce the workload we have discontinued our custom sign-up forms and this is now handled via Meetup. If you are unable to use Meetup but would like to attend, please either ask someone else to register you as their guest, or email walkbookings@berkshirewalkers.co.uk.

Pace: gentle.

Walk details

This is the first walk in our new “Sunday Stroll” series! This series will be a selection of walks that are shorter in distance (around the 5 mile mark) than some of our other walks on offer.

We start our walk from Cholsey station and head south towards Lollingdon Hill. We then head east towards Moulsford where we join the Thames Path to take us back to Cholsey.

Please note that this section of the Thames Path is VERY muddy – appropriate footwear is strongly advised.

From Reading: Take the 0928 train arriving in Cholsey at 0944.

From Didcot Parkway: Take the 0918 train arriving in Cholsey at 0923.

By car

Parking at the station, charges apply.

Please bring a drink and a snack.
Please note: there is NO lunch stop on this walk.
It might be muddy – please wear suitable footwear.

Booking onto a walk

Most walks do not require advance booking, and you can just turn up on the day. We encourage those comfortable with Meetup to indicate there that you plan to come though, so that others can see there will be plenty of people there – this really helps to encourage new members to come along.

Pace Guide

Gentle: led at a gentle pace with regular short breaks for water or rest. Should be suitable for anyone capable of the distance. (Expect 2–2.5 mph.)
Medium: led at an intermediate pace with fewer breaks but still suitable for most walkers. (Expect 2.5–3 mph.)
Fast: led at a quick pace with minimal breaks. May be a challenge for those with less fitness. (Expect 3 mph+.)

Speeds quoted are only a rough guide, including time spent on short water/rest stops and negotiating stiles/gates/roads etc. but not that spent on longer lunch or pub stops.
