Advance booking is not required, but if you plan on attending this walk, please indicate this on Meetup if you can, so others can see that there will be plenty of people going.

Walk details

This walk is prior to the Berkshire Walkers Annual General Meeting, which starts at 1.00pm at RISC in Reading. You are very welcome to come along to the AGM to find out more about the group.

The walk will be starting from the north side of the station so Caversham side. We head away from the station and towards the River Thames, cross over the Thames over the Christchurch Bridge. We follow the river west towards Caversham.

Once in Caversham we will walk up and out of Caversham and join The Warren (some very posh and expensive houses there). After we have stretched our legs here we head off into the Oxfordshire countryside – even though we are so close to Reading.

The walk will take us up onto Gravel Hill – it’s only a small and steady incline. Once at the top we will be presented with views across Reading (weather permitting). The walk will continue with us walking across the paths that zig zag through Caversham Heath Golf Course.

Once we arrive up into Caversham Heights we start making our way back. The walk takes us down Blagrave Lane and joins back up with the path at Gravel Hill. We then head back along The Warren, into Caversham, back along the Thames and back into Reading.
