Meet at Thatcham station for an 11.00am start. If you are coming from Reading, take the 10.38am train which will arrive at Thatcham station for 10.54am. If you are coming from Newbury, take the 10.16am train, which will arrive at 10.23am.
If the train is late, the start of the walk will be too. Limited parking is available at the station (charges may apply). There is parking available in nearby side streets but will be about a 5-10 minute walk away.
The walk will head north from the station, crossing the A4 and up past Colthrop Manor and on towards Bucklebury Grange across rolling fields. The walk will then head towards Upper Bucklebury and taking in part of Bucklebury Common.
We will stop for lunch along the way before we stop for a well-deserved drink at The Cottage Inn Pub in Upper Bucklebury. After being refreshed here we will start heading back to the station via Blacklands Copse and Long Grove Copse. Once we have crossed the A4, we meander through the industrial area of Colthrop and join the Kennet and Avon Canal and on towards Thatcham station.
The footpaths may be a bit muddy so please wear suitable footwear. Please bring a packed lunch and something to drink.
