Leaving the comforts of Berkshire, we head to Hampshire for this circular walk. A walk from the centre of Basingstoke out towards the village of Old Basing and returning into Basingstoke.

Advance booking is not required, but if you plan on attending this walk, please indicate this on Meetup if you can, so others can see that there will be plenty of people going.

Pace: gentle.

Walk details

This walk is out of our usual Berkshire area but it’s a good chance to explore a neighbouring county. The walk will head east from the station, following the railway line before coming into Old Basing.

The walk will then head out into the countryside when we will head towards Sherfield on Loddon. We will be welcomed with views of the Hampshire countryside. The walk will follow part of the river Loddon.

We will get views across to the sewage works on the outskirts of Basingstoke – oddly it’s not an ugly looking structure!

The walk will take us along the side of and across numerous fields of Basingstoke. We only walk through a small wooded area compared to the rest of the walk.

We will stop for lunch along the way after being refreshed here we will start heading back to the station. We will be presented with more beautiful views of the Hampshire countryside.

This is an easy walk which is relatively flat.
