No, this is not an Arctic exploration to rival the 19th Century explorations that attempted to trying to navigate the North West Passage but instead a gentle hike that take in some rural fields in our far North East region.

Booking is required for this walk, via the form here.

Pace: medium.

Walk details

This fairy easy hike takes across a number of fields to the north of Chalfont St Giles including a visit to the chalk stream that is River Misbourne. This waterway occasionally dries up so will review its current status as we wonder through. Our outward journey takes us to the edge of the market town of Amersham, a town that dates back to pre Anglo Saxon times. I don’t remember it being built!

We soon a tackle a small, gentle incline and thereafter we may find a suitable spot pausing for our lunch. We move on through the sleepy village of Coleshill where we pass a nineteenth century windmill. We complete the walk over some quite country lanes and soft footpaths. We will need to take care crossing the busy A355 as unlike James Franklyn when tackling the North West passage we hope to arrive back at the start all in one piece.

Possible pub stop during walk subject to availability and walk leader discretion.
