PLEASE NOTE CHANGE OF START TIME – following the recce, the walk has been changed to start an hour earlier, at 10:15, to ensure it finishes in the light.

The route is a picturesque walk (if weather stays dry) that heads up towards Crooksbury Hill.

Walk details

The walk starts in the small village of Tilford, where we head up towards Crooksbury Hill. Once we have reached the top you will appreciate the climb for the amazing views! That’s if the weather is on our side!!

We continue through Crooksbury Common and Charles Hill after our descent.

We shall stop for drink at The Mill pub in Elstead (this is a converted 17th century converted mill that sits besides the River Wey) before we walk through the pretty village of Elstead and on to Hankley Common where a few blockbuster films have been filmed… such as Skyfall, 1917 to name a couple and anyone older enough to remember the TV programme Soldier, Soldier (with Robson Green and Jerome Flynn) apparently…

We admire Stockbridge pond before heading back to the Tilford Green.

There is the option to stop for drinks at The Barley Mow at the end of the walk.

Travel details

There is an option to use public transport by catching the # 46 (Stagecoach) that runs from Guildford (and includes Farnham train station) which stops at Charles Hill (Tilford). It’s about a 10 mins journey from Farnham train station.

By using this option you’re a little over a mile (30 mins) from the start of the walk, therefore you must remember to factor this in if you choose to use this route. Also, please check the timetable nearer the time as alterations over the holiday period may not yet be announced!

We can park at the car park (GU10 2BU) or along the green if full. Both options are free.
