We’ll be starting at 11:00am from the National Trust Car Park (free, but bring some change just in case, or if you wish to visit the NT Kymin Roundhouse). Note: The lane to the car park is steep and narrow, there are also no toilet facilities here.

The historic Roundhouse on the Kymin Hill starts our walk, from which we’ll have stunning views west across Monmouthshire (weather dependant!).

We’ll take trails through the woodland and hills of Highmeadow Woods, before we then descend down to the banks of the River Wye. Following the River Wye, the trail meanders along through the steep-sided valley, then climbs up the valley side to the outlook of Symonds Yat, famous for great views, and it’s families of rare Peregrine Falcons nesting in the cliffs above the River Wye. We’ll stop at Symonds Yat for lunch, and to admire the views (there is a cafe at Symonds Yat for tea, coffee and cake. Toilet facilities available here too).

Continuing along forest trails, the walk resumes through Mailscot Wood towards Highmeadow Woods, and we will then join the Wysis Way to return back to where the walk will finish at Kymin Roundhouse.

Don’t forget plenty of water and a packed lunch
