We will meet outside the main entrance of Twyford station at 19:25, just after the arrival of the 19:17 from Reading. The walk leader will be on this train, so if it is running late then the start of the walk will be delayed too.
From there we will walk past the site of the old mill and through Loddon Nature Reserve, continuing along the River Loddon as it passes through farmland until we reach Dinton Pastures Country Park with its lakes, woodland and wildlife shortly before sunset. There will be an optional pub stop at the Wheelwright’s Arms as we leave the park, from where it is a short straight walk to Winnersh station with trains back to Reading every half hour.
NOTE: This is a linear walk.
From Reading: buy a single to Twyford and a single from Winnersh back to Reading.
From Wokingham and beyond: buy a return to Twyford.
From Maidenhead, Henley etc: buy a return to Winnersh.
From Newbury/Basingstoke/Didcot etc: the cheapest option is probably a return to Winnersh plus a single from Reading to Twyford.
If you drive to the start, you’ll need to take a train back at the end of the walk to collect your car. There is parking at Twyford station, where charges probably apply.
