Why not come and discover a different side of London and climb the O2 at sunset with us!

What is Up at The O2?

Up at The O2 is an exhilarating 90 minute experience that will take us on a guided expedition over the roof of The O2 via a fabric walkway. Suspended 2m above the surface of The O2 roof, the walkway is 52m above ground level and 380m long. At its steepest point the walkway has an incline of 28° on the way up and 30° on the way back down and has a slight bounce to it to mirror the surface of the tent. Before we climb, we’ll meet our Climb Guide who’ll take us through everything we need to know and give us a climb suit, shoes and a safety harness.

At the summit, there is an observation platform where we will be rewarded with spectacular 360-degree panoramic views across the capital, including historic Greenwich, The Olympic Park & Canary Wharf. If it’s clear, we will be able to see landmarks up to 15 miles away.

The organiser plans to have some dinner beforehand – as well as a drink afterwards, obviously. Details of which will be put on the BW Facebook Group.

Booking onto a walk

Most walks do not require advance booking, and you can just turn up on the day. We encourage those comfortable with Meetup to indicate there that you plan to come though, so that others can see there will be plenty of people there – this really helps to encourage new members to come along.
For the few which still have limited numbers, this is handled via Meetup. Follow the link to a walk’s Meetup page (or press 🎟 Register / 🎟 Tickets / 🎟), and mark yourself as attending.

Pace Guide

Gentle: led at a gentle pace with regular short breaks for water or rest. Should be suitable for anyone capable of the distance. (Expect 2–2.5 mph.)
Medium: led at an intermediate pace with fewer breaks but still suitable for most walkers. (Expect 2.5–3 mph.)
Fast: led at a quick pace with minimal breaks. May be a challenge for those with less fitness. (Expect 3 mph+.)

Speeds quoted are only a rough guide, including time spent on short water/rest stops and negotiating stiles/gates/roads etc. but not that spent on longer lunch or pub stops.
